     Merry Christmas

Twas the month before Christmas when all through our land,

Not a Christian was praying nor taking a stand.

See the PC Police had taken away,

The reason for Christmas, no one could say.

Thank goodness It is over!!!

I do not know about any one else, but I sure am glad the holidays are over with. I think entirely too much hype goes into it, and I  felt that the true meaning  got lost somewhere around Halloween. Especially this year. With the economy the way it is/was, they were hawking Christmas without even mentioning Thanksgiving. It was like Thanksgiving did not even exist.
I myself LOVE Thanksgiving. You invite loved ones to come over and you share a meal. Perhaps the only one you can share with particular loved ones but this one day a year. No pressure (except maybe on the cook. LOL!!!)
No presents, no expectations, no going into debt for things that you probably won't even get a thank you note for. Yea, I am glad it's over with. I just can't wait till next Thanksgiving.

Christmas already?

Today, as I am leaving the post office with my mail, (I live in a town that does not have home delivery of mail)Thumbing past the bills and bullshit, I was excited to see I had 2 new woodworking pattern magazines and a new crochet pattern magazine. Woodworking and crocheting are my favorite pastimes here on planet earth, even above blogging. I always seem to make something from each mag as soon as I get them (which is every 2 months)Ah, but it does not look like this time! I was so disappointed when I got home and all 3 of these mags were for patterns to do with Christmas. In the woodworking mags there were the patterns for the ornaments, the Santa Claus's and reindeer and such. In the crochet it was nothing but Christmas Stocking's , Christmas tree skirts, the doilies, and of course the runners you place on your 8 foot dining room table for that Christmas meal that we all have on our 8 foot dining room table. It is September, these mags say they are Oct, and Nov. It seems like these companies that run these mags would perhaps have specialty mags for the purpose of Christmas, Easter, etc. The sad thing is the 2 wood mags are by far the best I have ever found, and the crochet one is known as one of the best. But it has gotton out of hand and I think I will just have to stop the subscription's. For me it is WAY too early to be hawking Christmas, and my personnel opinion is they are disgracing their dignity as a mag. I know I for one do not want to spend the next 4 months making ornaments and crocheting Christmas socks. I would much rather be expanding my learning by be given (well I pay for the mag) patterns I can use and learn from all year round! After all they ARE pattern mags. It is hard for me to believe I am the only one out there that feel's this way.

A Christmas Story
I have been wanting to share this for a long time but just have not gotten around to it yet. Looks like today is the day. In December of 2005 I started messing around with my hubby's band saw. A gift from my father and I to him for his birthday (and our wedding anniversary) (We got married on his birthday cuz he said then he would never forget the date) This is the second marriage for both of us. I was widowed 10 years ago and I suspect he at one point must have forgotten a wedding anniversary and that is why we had to get married on his birthday! LOL!!!, Anyway I decided I was going to try to make my (at the time my only grandchild) a little truck out of wood for Christmas. I had envisioned half a truck length wise with the wheels sticking out for him to hang his little coat on in his bedroom. Well then I found these rubber stamps with little animals on them ,and learned I could cut them out with this band saw. Then I realised I should paint them. So off to the store for some paints. Now of course these animals cannot sit in the back of this truck without being caged in. (I am not for cages but I would not want them falling or jumping out of the truck and hurting them selves)

Sooooo I must make a cage. Then I decide that it needs his name wood burned along the side of the truck. Well I do this but now I want it carved. THAT was a stupid thing to want. It took me forever it seems. You will notice that his name is not Jim,or Don,or Al, nooooooooooooooooooo my grandson's name is J-E-R-E-M-I-A-H!!! 8 Veeeerrryyy looooong letters!

Then I find this picture I had of him when he was learning to walk with a walker that happened to be a car walker and he is looking the right way and holding onto the steering wheel. Out comes the scissors. Well now he needs a door handle to his truck. I also happen to find another picture of him grabbing a door handle.Of course he needs steps to the cab of the truck,

and so it goes.................

My hubby was a truck driver and he told me you have to have a P.U.C. or a I.C.C. number on the side of your truck so I just wrote Lic # and used the date which if anyone has been reading this long-ass post, is waaaay past Christmas, my goal for this project. The date is my grandson's birthday. and the est. since date is the year he was born.

So what happened to the half a truck length wise with wheels that stick out so that they can be used for a coat rack?

This is what happened!

Yes, Jeremiah Lee received this on his birthday Jan 8th of 2005.
His parents won't let him use it as a coat rack. It hangs in his bedroom!
