Watery Wednesday
Tuesday, February 24, 2009My son Troy Mosley who lives in southern Ca. took this picture. Taken in San Diego I have to say this picture is breathtaking. Unlike what I take! LOL!!!
Yes he is a professional photographer besides being a wonderful son. I just got off the phone with his beautiful bride Amanda to make sure he would not mind me using this picture. I have it as my desktop. All I could have come up with for Watery Wednesday would have been rain in the street as our weather here has been less than nice!
Note, Not taken by Moon-Writer but by Troy Mosley

Have a great week!

I am a grandmother again!!!
Monday, January 19, 2009
Any one that has ever read this blog knows I have 3 grandchildren. My youngest is Andrew Robert who just turned 2 last month, then I have Katie Ann who turned 3 last September. Then there is Jeremiah Lee that I write about the most since he lives in my town who just turned 7 a few days back!
But none of my children have adopted a child until now. I would like you to meet the new owner of my son Troy and his wife Dil, (known as Amanda by all others) His name is Chumba! The reason I say he owns them and not the other way around is because when you are a true pet lover and owner the animals own you! After all Chumba has already made "his people" take adorable pictures of him to mail out.! Is he not just a little QT? He is an Italian greyhound, 9 weeks old and will only be 13 or 14 lbs tops when he grows up.
I have already received updates of his potty training habits, (which are excellent) You go Chumba!!!! Only a dog that owns his parents get people to divulge that much information! Yup I think Chumba found himself some good "people"!!!

Stupid Math question of the day!!!
Thursday, December 25, 2008
I wrote a post a couple days ago entitled "Who is your role model" It was sent to me from my 3rd born son Troy in the spirit of funny. I in turn posted it here in the spirit of funny. However one of my readers and a couple of my friends explained to me that they knew I was going to be the #9 before they even scrolled down. I would love to know how they knew this.
I am the master to mathematical illiteracy. I should be the poster child to "Why it is important to learn math" Over at King Al’s Thoughts of the Day he occasionally runs a post that he calls "Stupid math question of the day" Let me tell you , one ought to just cut the middle man and put my face there.
Always excellent in school, I mean for the most part I was a B+ to A student, except math. Since I did so well in other subjects I believe that one of two things occurred for me. I was always blessed with excellent teachers whom made learning fun. EXCEPT, (I kid you not when I tell you) the two math teachers I had in high school were like this. One a female approximately 110 years old, stood 4 feet 10 inches tops and walked around the classroom with a pointer that she used as a stick. She would walk around and SLAM that stick on to your desk and scare the shit right on out of you. The other was a man. Probably in his 30's who spoke monotone. Now first not being good at math and then to have it taught to me by a man that had no exclamation in his voice made it down right boring!!! boring!!! and did I mention boring!!! Add to that in my day to graduate high school you only need have basic math. For the most part had ANY of my other teachers who taught me throughout my life taught math I perhaps would have learned a little something.
So , I am asking a math question on this Christmas day. How does it work out that the numbers always end up being #9 in the post I am speaking of.
Please I have no shame in being the stupid , in stupid math question of the day or any other way of finding out, what I am sure is a very simplistic answer. Any teachers out there want to help a 50 year young student?????
I bet there are those that are thinking"Why does she not just google it?" Well the answer to that my friend is I would not even know where to start!
Yup STUPID is a nice term in reference to me and math.
Also just a bit of irony in all this. Working with wood like I do with scroll work and especially intarsia, math is such a vital part of the whole process. So if there are any kids reading this, there is truth that YOU DO need math in all that you do, even a little woodworking on the side.

A new blog find with a message
Saturday, December 13, 2008Still trying to catch up after 10 days of being gone, I went blog surfing on and off all day. I went to my usual's like King Al’s Thoughts of the Day where I am never disappointed. I did a lot of woodworking site surfing, and then I stopped by DrowseyMonkeys blog. Another site that you will never find boring. Always something going on over there. Anyway it was through HER site that I noticed something that caught my eye. A blog called Awake in Rochester. So I thought I would go do a check it out thing.
Well when I got there she had a heartwarming and sad, yet truthful post about the loss of her mother, and then further down she had a post under wordless Wednesdays, Anyway it was pictures of military with the statement of Don't forget. And all I really want to say is I am always so heart warmed when I see pictures like this with this sentiment. Those that have been reading me know that Troy my 3rd born is an 18 month Iraqi combat Veteran and it was him I got to see all day long for his 25th birthday just last week. It means a great deal to me to see this message. With elections, the economy , gas prices and now the holiday season I feel like there is not enough said about our Sisters, Brothers, Aunts, Uncles, Fathers , Mothers, Sons and Daughters and Friends that are on foreign soil doing what they are doing!

A Wonderful Balance

I am leaving tomorrow. I am going back home. This week went by sooo fast. It is hard to believe it is over. Sitting here at my son Troy and his wife Amanda's new home I find myself filled with sadness AND extreme pride. Anyone who has ever read this blog knows that Troy did 18 months over in Iraq and D.I.L. (Amanda) stayed right here by his side every single step of the way. They were both quite young when this relationship happened yet they both dealt with it in such a grown up and mature way. It is something I as Troy's mother will never forget. I am not sure if THEY even realize what they did to and for each other at a time such as that. In this day and age and as young and beautiful as Amanda is I will always be grateful to her for the fact her heart was in Iraq with the man she loved, my son Troy.
I have been at their home last Christmas and I spent one night. ANYONE can pull something off for 1 night. But being here these last eight days, even the best con artists would not be able to pull the wool over their mothers eyes for eight (8) days!!!
I found myself admist a loving, strong, committed relationship. They have goals and are working towards them, and they are doing it together. They have committed to buying this new home for themselves, (which I personally really love, the lay-out is awesome) They both work and they are both going to school. They both have outside interests and hobbies for their own personal growth.
In the late sixties and/or early 70's there was a patch (the kind you put on levi's) also a poster and it was a saying that said
"U is only half of US".
I remember as young as I was thinking how beautiful and how awesome, (of course at the time I probably said groovy) LOL!!! that saying was. I am now seeing it. And it is a wonderful feeling to see my son in such a realtionship. I really believe that they are like a scale and that they balance each other out. Like it was destined, like it was meant to be. Had either one of them met and married another, the scales would never have been truly balanced out!
I am a very happy mother today, and am so thankful I got this time with them so that I could see real love in real action.
Yes! Yes! Yes!

Waking up a few minutes ago at my son Troy and his wife D.I.L. (known by all others as Amanda)( D.I.L. is a term of endearment I have used for her since right before they got married and it DOES have a story, behind it, just not to be told in this post.) They are purchasing this beautiful Condo they are living in and have only just moved in around 3 months ago. My youngest son Hunter is now also calling this address home for a short time.
It is Saturday morning, it is 8:30 A.M. D.I.L. has already got up at 5:00 A.M. to pick up Hunter from work . He worked yesterday friday at one job from 3 in the afternoon until 9 last night, at which time he ran home for a quick bite and then off he went to his "graveyard shift" job of which ended at 5.
He comes home and goes to bed.
D.I.L. goes back to bed for a quick hour and a half nap after picking Hunter up from work before she leaves to be at her job as a hairdresser at 7:30 A.M.
Meantime Troy has left at 6:00 A.M. to do 4 and a half hours of power training on his mountain bike for another up and coming race soon.
With all this going on and all of it being done damn near before the rooster crows, it just plumb tuckers me out watching so I must sleep in till 8:00 A.M.
LOL!!!
Now the house is quiet, I wake grab a cup and sit down to write this, because this morning is nothing compared to what the rest of the day holds!
Whew, I am tired after writing all this, perhaps I should take another quick nap before Troy is expected home at 10:30 or 11:00 this morning. It is his 25th birthday today. We also are going to the celebration of my grandson Andy's big 2nd birthday.Yup, This old "granny" better grab another quick power nap before the day begins

Mt Sac Fat Tire Classic and a bragging mother
Thursday, November 06, 2008Troy my 3rd born son (and number 549 above) of my 4 sons has really got into these amazing Mountain Bike Racing events. I am sorry for perhaps I have the terminology wrong. Participating in another one this past Sunday November 3rd in what was called the Mt Sac Fat Tire Classic he competed in the mans beginners category for the 19-26 year old's. There were 13 riders in this and he took 3rd place.
He really truly enjoys this new sport he's found and he trains extremely hard at it! These are a couple of pictures he sent me yesterday of the event. To those that may not know Mt. Sac is located in southern Ca.To see some more pictures of a truly awesome event that makes me tired just reading about the distance please check out this older post here at Just My Day Blog, called 12 Hours of Temecula
If you would wish to see a little trouble this 3rd born was in as a young one you can find that here

I am announcing my term in the White House!
Tuesday, November 04, 2008
Today is the day I have decided to finally get the nerve to announce a blog I have been working on for 66 days. I have added it over at Blog Catalog but never did anything more. I never "introduced" it there. The reason being is quite simple. It will be boring for just about anyone that does not know me personally. It is about my life in Lassen County.
A journey of trying my hand at being able to pull off a 365 day "diary" if you will, of what I love and daily life on my mountain.Yes if the "Walton's" can have a mountain than I am going to name mine Allison's mountain. I realize no one else will but me will call it that of course, but that's okay . It's my blog LOL!!!

Just a little fun from my son Troy, "the chicken" in a couple of posts ago. He sent me a whole bunch of pictures, ya know the kind you see passed all around the internet, and while I am going to post most of them on my blog This too shall pass (thru) I thought I would post a couple here as this is his way of letting me know enough is enough about the chicken picture's. Here's for you my son LOL!!!
And why does this first one remind me of you!
And why does this first one remind me of you!
Gotcha!!!
Love MOM!!!
Playing Chicken
Tuesday, September 23, 2008This is my son. this is what my son did on his wifes birthday! They go to their local target store and play chicken. Kinda brings a whole new meaning to playing chicken Huh?
And I can only guess that this is when D.I.L. told the chicken he was not a Foster Farms chicken and he goes away in shame.
Thanks to D.I.L. for allowing me to publicly embarrass my son.
12 Hours of Temecula
Sunday, June 15, 2008IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO READ A BRAGGING MOTHERS WORDS , this is not the post for you!
I was just informed that tomorrow my town is not going to have electricity from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Not only does this mean I will not get to work in my shop it also means that I will not be able to blog! This is going to interrupt my parental bragging rights! You see my son went AND rode AND finished an endurance bike race yesterday called 12 Hours of Temecula. Hence the title to this post!!!
Anyway I had a big plan on posting a big thing about it in the morning as that IS my PARENTAL BRAGGING RIGHT!!! Sooo I will have to wait a extra day to do this so I will post what I can now. This was Troy's first ever bike endurance race. He placed 3rd in his class (of riders). They (the riders) had to ride 6 laps. Every lap was/is 12 miles, each lap had a 1,800 ft. of climbing. Which in my complete lack of mathematical skills = 10,800 feet of climbing throughout the day. It took him 11 hours and 15 minutes. The way I look at it is 5,280 feet is a mile (I think and hope) which means he rode from sea level up to my town, which is I believe somewhere around 5,800 feet, almost twice!
This is the son that served in Iraq and wreaked havoc on my heart for 16 months. He also decided he could not wait to meet the world, and I gave birth to him at 6 months and 1 week gestation! A whopping 2lbs.12 ounces , he dropped to 2 lbs. 2 ounces.
So far in this 24 years of life he has never let anything hold him back. Be it the womb or war or an endurance race, My Boy Troy just keeps on keepin on.
His dad would be soooo proud!!!
Troy cooling off!
This occurred in Temecula California, and there is to be another one in November. All the pictures are not up on the sight about this, Sooo come tomorrow after 5:00 P.M. I will be posting more.
I hope no-one is thinking in their mind, "gosh she is a bragging B-----" Because I warned you. Thanks.!!!
