12 Hours of Temecula

Sunday, June 15, 2008
IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO READ A BRAGGING MOTHERS WORDS , this is not the post for you!
I was just informed that tomorrow my town is not going to have electricity from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Not only does this mean I will not get to work in my shop it also means that I will not be able to blog! This is going to interrupt my parental bragging rights! You see my son went AND rode AND finished an endurance bike race yesterday called 12 Hours of Temecula. Hence the title to this post!!!
Anyway I had a big plan on posting a big thing about it in the morning as that IS my PARENTAL BRAGGING RIGHT!!!  Sooo I will have to wait a extra day to do this so I will post what I can now. This was Troy's first ever bike endurance race. He placed 3rd in his class (of riders).   They (the riders) had to ride 6 laps. Every lap was/is 12 miles, each lap had a 1,800 ft. of climbing. Which in my complete lack of mathematical skills = 10,800 feet of climbing throughout the day. It took him 11 hours and 15 minutes. The way I look at it is 5,280 feet is a mile (I think and hope) which means he rode from sea level up to my town, which is I believe somewhere around 5,800 feet, almost twice!
This is the son that served in Iraq and wreaked havoc on my heart for 16 months. He also decided he could not wait to meet the world, and I gave birth to him at 6 months and 1 week gestation!  A whopping 2lbs.12 ounces , he dropped to 2 lbs. 2 ounces.
So far in this 24 years of life he has never let anything hold him back. Be it the womb or war or an endurance race, My Boy Troy just keeps on keepin on.
His dad would be soooo proud!!!
Troy cooling off!
Troy is on the left
Troy drinking what looks like a much needed refreshment!
This occurred in Temecula California, and there is to be another one in November. All the pictures are not up on the sight about this, Sooo come tomorrow after 5:00 P.M. I will be posting more.
I hope no-one is thinking in their mind, "gosh she is a bragging B-----"  Because I warned you. Thanks.!!!

Graduation Card!!!

Friday, June 13, 2008
For the last day and a half I have tried to write this post. It is not about woodworking whatsoever. It's about friends and friendship. It is about a graduation card I received in the mail day before yesterday! YES I said graduation! Did I mention it is a high school congratulations for graduating high school card! I graduated 33 years ago this month.

YES I said 33 years ago. This card was/is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. Respect will keep me from divulging anything more, but trust me when I say there really is no greater gift than a friend. One must NEVER lose sight of that!!!

Photobucket

P.S. I have this frog as the header of my other blog, and he always makes me smile. The card I received just so happens to have had a frog on it. There is not even a possibility that I could ever find a picture better than this to represent the way that card makes me feel!
PEACE!!!
Allison
Thanks B.G.

The Dirt Bike Rider

Tuesday, May 20, 2008
On Saturday May 17th I went with my son Travis and his son (my grandson) Jeremiah to watch Jeremiah race his dirt bike. It was a beautiful sunny day, one of the first ones for my part of the country. Along with us were two other boys and their family's . One is Jeremiah's best friend Mikey, who later on that afternoon was having a week belated birthday party. He was going to be celebrating his 6th birthday. Yes my little dirt bike racers were in the 6 year age period!

The other little boy, Cooper, I had never met before, along with his parents with whom it was a joy to meet. Being the Grandma I was much older than the rest of them. But I was not treated as such!

I know Mikey's mom and have met his dad a few times. The race was to start at 9 A.M. that morning and we were on the road at 6:30 A.M. I have not been up that early in a long time. I have been a mom since I was 16 , so sleeping in was something I never had the privilege of doing. The drive was around 75 miles from our house. Living in the mountains those 75 miles took us down our mountain and straight to the desert. This is Jeremiah sticking his head out of the sunroof looking at the dirt bike tracks!

Is it not a wonderful sight to see in the eyes of a 6 year old " pure excitement!!!"
That is his Daddy, my son Travis standing at the drivers door.

I think I see the glimmer of excitement on his face also!!!
This could be a very long story as there were many things that did not quite go right, such as the boys division 's race was not until 4 to 5 in the afternoon.

We did not come prepared for that! No water, nor sunscreen, NOR SHADE!!!

They did however allow our boys to use the little guys track the whole day. That is where they had there fun!

This is my Jeremiah Lee
Now there were others there also who thought the race was at 9A.M. for his age group. Sooo What do you do in that situation?

You make a race for them all.

And that is what we did!!!
On your mark!
Photobucket
Get set

And Travis lets the flag (in this case old bandana) down

Go!

And with Cooper clearly in the lead

they round the corner

Where Jeremiah Lee CLEARLY takes the lead for the rest of the race. Cooper comes in 2nd with Mikey placing 3rd!

YES!!!

Grandmothers are suppose to brag!

Dear prudence,
won't you come out to play
Dear prudence, greet the brand new day
The sun is up, the sky is blue, It's beautiful and so are you
Dear prudence won't you come out and play
Dear prudence open up your eyes
Dear prudence see the sunny skies
The wind is low the birds will sing
That you are part of everything
Dear prudence won't you open up your eyes?
Look around round, Look around round round,Look around
Dear prudence let me see you smile
Dear prudence like a little child
The clouds will be a daisy chain So let me see you smile again
Dear prudence
won't you let me see you smile?
I woke up this morning (DUH!) with a somehow different perspective, not new however as I know it's always been there. Just somehow different, Maybe it's the sun that awakened me, for she has not done that since Easter. And on Easter of this year I write in here that under my personal circumstances of that day I felt it was my best friend putting his arm on my shoulder telling me every thing's going to be all-right.In Allison's perfect world I would be calling him up and saying
"Hey Wes, guess what?
and he would say
"The sun is shining"
Then I would say
"you are right , how did you know that!"
He would reply
"I just do!"
Why?
Was it because he really did sense it ,that there was something UN explainable that he could do, sense, know?
Or perhaps it might have been the fact that for 30 something years he would get a call from me with the same question, year after year, on the day I would dare say the sun would be out for more than a minute.
We loved the sun ,
We love the sun,
He just is loving it from a different place.
And he is sharing it with me.
Why?
because he can and he would and I like to think that he is.
because that's what best buddies do!
They ARE ALWAYS there,
I may not know why this very second , but I will soon.
Cause I woke up this morning (Duh) with a somehow different perspective, not new however as I know it's always been there.
And I think of this song, And I know there is a reason for that.
He was not a Beatles nut, I perhaps was/am more so than he.
But today Dear Prudence has come to my mind.

However I had a pig once

Her name was Prudence!

Classmates,
I am sure anyone that owns a computer has heard or seen the pop up ads, or the ads that just seem to be there when you least expect it. The classmates ad's . The ones that ask you if you want to find out about old classmates etc. Anyhow I have just got done writing a letter to the sister of someone that I have been trying to find for years. I am so excited to find out that this person is doing great and that all is well.
Sometimes it's those little things that can truly make your day!

In 10 Year Remembrance of Edward Lee Mosley

9/14/1951-10/01/1997

10/01/1997-10/01/2007
You wouldn't believe how much the kids have grown! Hell they aren't kids anymore. Oh and what a grandson you have now. He has your eyes and your middle name. Sweetest little guy you ever did see. But you see don't you? I believe that time is of no relevance to you wherever you are but for us 10 years has felt like an eternity without you in our lives, but you would be proud. You would definitely be proud. Yea , we made it, we pulled it off. We had to you know? And we speak of you often and now it's always with a smile!

You are forever missed.

Alleycat and Ed pups.

P.S. Tell everyone I said hi would ya?
